Action & Adventure Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of Mad Max Blu-ray Release** Mad Max, directed by George Miller, is widely regarded as one of the best Australian films ever made. The film showcases raw filmmaking and excellent performances from a talented cast, including Mel Gibson in his first significant role and other remarkable actors who have strong ties to the esteemed National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). The haunting soundtrack by Brian May, who is distinct from the Queen guitarist, along with genuine stunts and thrilling car chases, contribute to an authentic viewing experience that fans appreciate due to the lack of CGI and trickery. The recent Blu-ray reissue by Shout Factory has rejuvenated the film with a fantastic high-definition transfer that far surpasses the original MGM DVD release. This version features a range of audio options, allowing viewers to enjoy the film in the original Australian dialogue, which many fans prefer over the inferior American dubbed version. Moreover, the Blu-ray offers an array of new special features, making it a significant step up from the previous barebones release. Included are fascinating retrospective interviews with cast members Mel Gibson and Joanne Samuel, along with cinematographer David Eggby, each sharing behind-the-scenes stories that enrich the viewing experience. The special features don’t stop there; fans will find additional documentaries chronicling Mel Gibson's rise to stardom and a collection of previously aired extras that add depth to the film’s legacy. The quality of the Blu-ray, coupled with the thoughtful addition of these new features, is well worth the investment for both seasoned fans and newcomers to the series. Overall, the Blu-ray release of Mad Max is a brilliant homage to the film's storied history, making it an essential purchase for anyone who appreciates classic cinema or the evolution of the action genre amidst the backdrop of a hauntingly rendered post-apocalyptic world. **
