Resposta: I've never seen King Arthur black onyx cocoa. This smells good. Ive used it to make gluten free Oreo flavored crusts which have turned out fabulous and no one knew it was not Oreos. I've made black mud pudding with this, tasted amazing had that black look to it. Love the product. Comes in a great container that keeps it fresh. Sorry can't compare with KA -

I received this today and it is certainly not 'black'. Should it look black in the container? It looks like regular cocoa.
Resposta: It is not literally black but it is a very dark brown like dark chocolate. Regular cocoa is more of a milk chocolate color--at least mine is anyway. Even if you can't see a difference, you certainly should be able to taste the difference. This black cocoa is dark and rich and makes some amazing chocolate brownies if you get your hands on the right recipe. You are in for a treat my friend. -

Resposta: It doesn't really have a smell, and the taste to me is more acidic than KA. KA imparts a richness like an Oreo. This imparts a richness more like biting into a baking cocoa bar. I'd choose KA first over this if you enjoy chocolate like Lindt 99 or some other deep rich chocolate, but choose this if you like the taste of some of those 'raw chocolates' that have less dutch process. Despite its dark, it tastes bitter in that kind of rouge chocolate way to me. -

Whats the expiration date?
Resposta: Like a grocery store, the ever changing inventory has changing expiration dates. The expiration date is printed on the container of each product that we sell. As of 09/05/2021, the current expiration date is somewhere in 2023, however, as stated, this is always changing, as expiration dates of all food and grocery items that are sold in a grocery store, gas station, convenience store, pharmacy, etc as new stock comes in to replace the sold stock. We are no exception. -

Resposta: I don't know for sure. I bought my most recent container a few months ago and it says best by March 28, 2019. It’s really good! -

Do you know what kind of chocolate to buy when making a real red velvet cake?
Resposta: I don't think it matters. It's red from food coloring. There is red cocoa but red velvet recipes I remember just use regular cocoa and food coloring. You should just google some recipes. Good luck! -

Is the black onyx cocoa powder dutch processed also?
Resposta: It doesn't say on my jar if it's dutched or not, but reading about other 'black' cocoa powders, they are ultra dutched which gives them their black color. I'm assuming that this black onyx cocoa powder is ultra dutched as well, but I can't say for sure. You might contact the seller for the definitive answer. -

I was wondering if this could be used to make a gray color? My son wants a 'shark cake'!
Resposta: The black onyx gives you the deep dark color however it's doesn't seem to be a true black. I would try only a very small batch before hand to not ruin you cake idea.
